Description

Your journey back to the old west will feature all acoustic music, plus stories and poems about the cowboy---his ways, his life, his humor, his horse (of course!) and, sometimes, his favorite cowgirl. Formatted as an old time radio show, yet as intimate as a campfire sing-along, the YAMPA VALLEY BOYS will bring you laughter, maybe a tear or two, and always a good time. Youngsters and old timers, whatever the occasion, have been captivated by the unique manner in which the YAMPA VALLEY BOYS preserve some of our Western heritage. The YAMPA VALLEY BOYS were formed in the fall of 2000 by two seasoned guest ranch entertainers. In November 2001, they released their first CD album, 'Save The Cowboy'. 'THE BOYS', blend the old time classics (including the silver screen era) with contemporary cowboy songs, stories and poems. Their second CD 'Tales of the Trail' was released in 2003. 'Back in the Saddle Again' is their third CD and contains 18 tracks of contemporary and original songs and poems written and performed in the traditional style. Their unique sound is a combination of western harmonies, accented by Steve Jones' powerful voice, and the driving, frailing banjo style of John Fisher. Since the beginning of 2001, the Yampa Valley Boys have performed in more than 400 shows. Some of the highlights were: two performances on the guest stage at the National Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering in Elko, Nevada in early 2001; voted top showcase act at the annual convention of the Colorado Association of Fairs and Conventions in Pueblo, Colorado, November 2002; performances at the Cowboy Songs & Range Ballads, Cody, Wyoming, and Cheyenne (Wyoming) Cowboy Symposium & Celebration in 2004. The 'Boys' were also selected by the Colorado Bluegrass Music Association to do a showcase performance at the Old Blue Memorial Day Bluegrass Festival, Grand Junction Colorado (2005). BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN reviews: 'Steve Jones and John Fisher make up this interesting cowboy singing duo, and they enthusiastically perform traditional and original western songs. On this album they have included four original songs plus the tune for a Bruce Kiskaddon poem...an instrumental version of 'Ol' Joe Clark, fabulously frailed on the banjo...by Fisher... There is more than an hour of great listening on this CD. You'll like it.' Cowboy Magazine (Summer 2005). 'Their latest CD contains 18 songs and poems (mostly songs), most of which are contemporary, but performed in the traditional style. ...One of my favorites is a traditional banjo instrumental (Old Joe Clark)....four vocals that particularly impressed me ....Andy Wilkinson's...'The River that Never Runs Dry'...Steve's 'On the Run', Brenn Hill's 'Burnin' Hair' and the traditional 'Streets of Laredo'. O.J. Sikes in Rope Burns July/Aug 2005. BACK IN THE SADDLE MAKES THE WESTERN MUSIC CHARTS! Back in the Saddle Again appears at #8 on the Western Music Album chart for June 20, 2005, published in Rope Burns July/August 2005 edition. Also at #8 on the Western Music Song list is our version of Andy Wilkinson's ' The River That Never Runs Dry'
